I was watching Madrid Direct the other afternoon, and for the first time (after having lived here for 25 years!) I learned that the Madrilenian people celebrate their patron saint’s day (‘Virgen de la Almudena’) with this typical sweet type of bread, filled with confectioner’s custard, so I thought I’d try it out.  I must admit, it did take quite some time – in fact all morning – between one ‘rising’ and another, but it seems like my time was well worth the effort.  You can find the recipe on this link: (http://wp.me/P4lhBm-S2).
